Best Practices in Telecom Expense Management

Whatever the state of the economy is, it is always a good move for businesses to be smart when it comes to managing their resources. For their needs in telecom, expense management should ensure that every single dollar spent on the service goes towards the company’s business growth.

Here are some of the best practices to adopt when looking at telecom expenditure.

Compose a fair, concise, and clearly-worded telecom expense policy. A telecom policy document should be carefully composed by the company’s administration department. The terms should be clear and detailed, with no room for misinterpretation. The policy should be able to explain the principles behind the expense management and guidelines for documentation, as well as answer all questions regarding which expenses will be shouldered by the company, what the reimbursement process would be like, and what the payment and billing schedules are, among other concerns. It would particularly be helpful to schedule sessions for thoroughly discussing the contents of such a policy face-to-face, on top of giving copies to all employees and the telecom service providers

Establish a speedy resolution mechanism for disputed transactions. Companies that take care of dozens, if not hundreds of accounts, will inevitably have to contend with errors in billing from time to time. A protocol should be established for quickly resolving such disputes regarding some of the transactions with their telecom service providers, so that billing and payment would be efficiently facilitated regardless of these issues.

Include clauses on discount promotions and technology testing in contract. Companies should make sure that they are able to make the most of group packages and discount promotions from carriers. Companies can even volunteer their employees to become testers of emerging technologies in exchange for free services, if they want to take advantage of the latest technologies and are open to the risks that come with it. When drawing up contracts with partners, the option to be informed of these developments and sign up for these choices should be included.

Conduct a periodic review of services. A telecom contract should provide for a periodic review, where the client can evaluate the performance of the provider and its continuing need for the service on a regular basis. This way, both parties do not have to keep on with the partnership should they not find that they are mutually benefiting from the engagement. Or, they could also opt to upgrade the partnership if they are very satisfied with the results, and are keen on seeing more breakthroughs. The review should be based on agreed upon parameters, which should in turn be based on the company’s goals expressed during the start of the telecom partnership.

Designing a Child-friendly Mauna Kea Luxury Home

The Mauna Kea resort community on the Big Island of Hawaii is one built for families. With its gorgeous terrains, friendly and truly welcoming neighborhood vibe, and all the leisure facilities, it is easy for everyone – from the patriarchs, to teenagers, to the young ones – to find something they will enjoy.

Here are ideas for designing a luxury home in this side of Hawaii.

Consider comfort in layout and motif. A thoughtful designer can make an opulent space still a place of comfort, one filled with the good old cozy feel. The key is to reserve spaces where children can be children – jump and run around, work with their hands, or mess things up, without hurting themselves, and without the parents breaking the bank. This would mean going for a lot of airy, common rooms with open layouts, but with just the right elements to delineate a space from another. For example, instead of walls, area rugs can be installed underneath the set of table and the surrounding chairs. Less walls would mean the parents being able to see their children even as they go about their adult tasks, such as preparing a meal in the kitchen, while the kids busy themselves in the dining area in the meantime.

Go for sensible furnishings. Homeowners also need to be just a little more meticulous when it comes to their choice of furnishings. Sculptures made using fiberglass or bronze, for instance, may be more ideal than delicate porcelain vases or figurines. Light colored sofa sets in the more durable leather or the easily washable canvas, may be the more sensible choice, over the luxe-looking velvet or chenille. Those with sharp corners, made of fragile material, or are simply rare and expensive, can still be mounted in the house, but only where they are out of reach. This makes it perfectly fine to go for glass chandeliers or pendant lights, or an avant-garde art print – something by Damien Hirst, perhaps – as long as they are at least seven feet high.

Select lots of multi-functional items. Items with multiple purposes serve a family home well, because “less is more” definitely works for parents living with children – especially little ones. Furniture pieces can be customized to allocate just a little extra space for children’s toys. Tables can always serve the other purpose of marking a space, or holding items. A caddie can be installed underneath for books and other reading materials, if not art materials for spontaneous crafting sessions. Most multi-functional items also have features for them to be easily stowed away when not in use, such as wheels, or foldable covers.

The Transfer Windows in European Soccer

European professional soccer is largely different than the American professional sports. One of the most glaring is how the two differentiate the period where teams can trade/sign new players. For American sports, there are usually two times that this is allowed. First would be during the offseason, once the championship game/series has concluded and all activities for that sport is halted until the preseason. The offseason is usually the time where the most activity for teams to make personnel moves because it gives the front office enough time to reevaluate their team to make the necessary adjustments to make their team most competitive.

In this period, the beginning of the offseason is where moves are being made at a rapid rate and then there is a lull once the preseason begins. Then the season begins and competition resumes as normal. Lastly, there is an arbitrary cut-off date, usually called the trade deadline, where teams are not allowed to make any personnel moves for the rest of the season in order to prevent failing teams selling off their assets to those trying to make a late championship run. In European soccer, it is much different and that is in large part due to the integration of international play that is ingrained into domestic clubs schedule. Fantasy soccer enthusiasts will point to two times during the season where they may see their favorite players with sides: The Summer and Winter transfer windows. The Summer transfer window, is of course during the months of July through August, and serves as the preseason/offseason opportunities for clubs to make players moves with other clubs.

At this time, domestic club play is pretty much non existent; except for the new friendly tournaments that is meant to bring European soccer to the United States. This serves as the offseason for the players, although they may suit up for their native countries if they are any International tournaments being played. The second transfer window is where it becomes much different compared to American sports. The first half of European soccer runs from mid August through the end of January. These clubs are competing in their domestic leagues, domestic cups, and European championships (if they have qualified). Then when the New Year hits, the transfer window opens up again right in the middle of the season. This transfer period is active for the length of January and gives clubs the opportunities to make any mid-season acquisitions that may better their club for the rest of the season or for the future. It is a difficult concept for American sports enthusiasts to grasp because of how much different the procedure is for American sports. Keep your eyes peeled during this Winter Transfer window as fantasy soccer stars like, Philippe Coutinho, Gareth Bale, may be on the move for massive amounts of money.

Legal Strategy: Understanding Public Opinion Through Surveys

Once a court decides that a lawsuit will go to trial, law firms committed to winning their client’s case need to develop a sound legal strategy that takes into account the spirit of our jury system. Under such a system, supposed “peers of the accused” are invited by the judiciary to weigh in on the facts of a lawsuit, assess the merit of the evidence presented, and make a judgment regarding the guilt of the defendant.

It is commonly argued that this system integrates community norms with notions of justice on top of the established legal stipulations surrounding crimes and deviant behaviors, which makes it important for lawyers to know the surrounding public opinion. Survey research, mock trials, and focused group discussions (FGDs) may be conducted or studied for this purpose.

Strictly speaking, mock trials and focused group discussions are also forms of research. For this article’s purposes, however, we will limit the conversation to larger-scale surveys, not mock trials and FGDs whose participants can fit around a table.

Law firms can commission surveys to guide their legal strategy, or simply access studies that have already been conducted. The effort is sure to pay off. After all, a survey can be helpful not only for a particular case, but for similar lawsuits, or cases that fall under the same family of misconduct. For instance, opinions regarding the extent of government control over businesses will be very relevant and insightful for cases of financial fraud, price fixing, or anti-trust violations.

In evaluating the relevance of a study, law firms must be guided by the same old principles of good research. The sampling must be representative of the same demographic profiles the jury is expected to be composed of. If the incident to be tried happened in a small town, then the results from small towns form the relevant data. Furthermore, the conclusions must be internally valid, or whether the cause-effect or correlation patterns can be easily explained based on the selected independent and dependent variables, and externally valid, or applicable to other situations or contexts. Finally, law firms need to look at the interest of the parties who commissioned the research and may have been swayed by confirmation bias, which makes a compelling case for law firms to conduct its own studies.

Studies about public opinion on particular topics can reveal the answers to the following questions: What attitudes do the common American have over a particular misconduct? Are there differences in this perception based on their age, gender, race, religion, or educational attainment, among other factors? What aspect of a crime or misconduct is important to the respondents? What aspects of it are given much emphasis under the law, but evoke no significant response among the respondents?

Admittedly, however, conducting research studies or sifting through existing ones to guide can be tedious process that many law firms have limited resources for. Thankfully, legal consulting firms such as Dubin Research and Consulting (DRC) can accomplish these for the lawyers. Visit DubinConsulting.com today to learn more.

All Aboard the Wentz Wagon

Think back to before the beginning of the NFL season, right after the preseason had wrapped up. The talk of the town was who or what was going to be able to stop the New England Patriots from going undefeated this season as they seemingly had looked unstoppable. There was talks the Kansas City, the number one seed in the AFC last season, had actually taken a step backwards and no longer viewed as real content ender. And then there were massive amount of questions about the Atlanta Falcons and how they were going to be able to bounce back after one of the most gut-wrenching losses in Super Bowl history.

Now,back to present day and the team with the best record in the NFL entering week 8 is the Philadelphia Eagles. Wait, that has to be a mistake right? It is not a mistake at all. The Eagles are firing on all cylinders and it is in large part thanks to second year fantasy football superstar Carson Wentz. Wentz has lead the Eagles to a number of impressive victories, most notably against: The Redskins (twice), Giants, and Carolina. Their only loss was to a once undefeated Kansas City team and that game was lost on the final drive. Overall this team is looking to be a true contender in this season’s playoff picture and the city of Philadelphia cannot get enough of it.

When Carson Wentz was taken second overall out of North Dakota State, Eagles fans didn’t really know what to say. They heard and knew about how good this Wentz guy was in college but that was in a Division 1 AA school, how is that performance going to translate over against some of the best athletes on this planet? Admittedly, Wentz had his growing pains during his first year and a brief daily fantasy football analysis points out that it wasn’t entirely his fault. Wentz had no real offensive weapons around him during his rookie campaign and that meant a lot of responsibility and pressure on the rookie’s shoulders. During the offseason, new head coach Doug Pederson made it a priority to surround his young prospect with some capable playmakers and that saw the talents of Jordan Matthews leaving the team and guys like Alshon Jeffery and LeGarrette Blount ready to make a big impact on their new offense. The biggest offensive edition doesn’t come from a new player joining the Eagles; it comes from their talented Tight End, Zach Ertz, become 100% healthy this year. Ertz has quickly become Wentz most trusted target as he has amassed some pretty eye popping numbers to start the season. Ertz, a NFL fantasy football star, has the following stat line entering week 8: 40 catches, 500 yards, and 5 touchdowns. If he keeps this kind of production up, Ertz would be on pace to break 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns which would be utterly impressive for a tight end. Ertz will surely be playing a huge factor in the Eagle’s offensive game plans for the rest of the week as they look to hold onto this top record in the NFC and carry this momentum into a playoff push. With injuries to Aaron Rodgers, Julian Edelman, Eric Berry, and JJ Watt, this looks to be the year for a surprise contender to run the table and hoist the Lombardi Trophy come February.

Calling a house a ‘landmark’ is bound to raise people’s expectations about its appearance and construction. Located along 77-6411 Nalani St., Kailua-Kona, the Landmark Residence is every bit a dream vacation rental that is set to leave a mark on each guest. From the entrance to the property, to the heart of the home, it is easy to see the care and passion that were put into it by Kendrick Bangs Kellogg, a master of the mid-century style in architecture.

A garden envelopes occupants in green, and lets them enjoy the fresh sea breeze. The facade of the house is inviting, with its unforgettable sculptural roofs, with arched, translucent panels at the edges that allow plenty of sunlight in, and stained glass art.Indeed, the layout of the property seems well-planned: from the top, the 1,632 sq. foot property looks like two giant onions sitting on amongst the wild growth around a pond.

More magic awaits inside. The interior design used lots of Hawaiian Koa wood as well as lava rock for the walls, creating a truly grounded look that is at once cozy and mysterious. The palette features neutral colors – deep brown, grey, beige, off-white, with a touch of green here and there.

In the living area, a table is surrounded by chairs whose backs are shaped like a giant scallop shell. Meanwhile, in the bedrooms, the concrete archesforming the ceiling create a warm and welcoming feel, as do the colorful covers of the beds. Each of these bedrooms are linked to a bath, which in turn leads to a private garden.

Everywhere, there are thoughtfully placed pieces of furniture, accents, and decor, such as huge brown leather Lawson and Bergere chairs, lamps and pendant lights, one of a kind wooden vanities and console tables, patterned throw pillow covers, table runners, and rugs, ornately carved jars and vases – some filled with monstera leaves and bird of paradise, bringing the tropical vibe from the outside to indoors.

What is the Super Bowl?

This is what the we like to call “The Big Game”. It is the most important game in any season of football. The most watched television program in the history of television. It starts out by having teams in the NFL duke it out in a normal football season (between late September and early January in 16 games). The two teams with the best win/loss ratio will go on to face each other in this championship game in early February. Whichever team wins is celebrated as the champions of that superbowl. But where did this all started?

Back in 1960, the NFL began to square off with its new rival the AFL(American Football League). The NFL had to deal with rival companies before, but the AFL was the biggest contender. Mainly because it was signing on hidden talent that the NFL rejected to hastily. There was a mutual agreement that no league would sign on players who were already apart of the other league. This agreement was broken 1966 when the NFL signed Pete Gogolak, a AFL signed player. After the AFL began to sign on quarterbacks from the NFL, the NFL learned its lesson and sat down with the AFL to discuss a way to end this conflict. A merger agreement was signed on June 1966 and the two leagues became one. Both leagues decided to have a championship with each putting their best team against each other in order to see who is the superior league. Seven months after the merger signing, the NFL’s Green Bay Packers were to go against the AFL’s Kansas City Chiefs on January 15, 1967 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The term “Super Bowl” was created as a nickname for this event, see how college football championship games are called “bowls”. But the term wasn’t official until 1970 when the merger was complete and the fourth championship game was held. This the beginning of one of the biggest sporting events on this earth.

For daily fantasy football purposes, the only site that will allow you to partake in making a lineup is DraftKings. They have created a mini slate that includes players from the Super Bowl, as well as the Pro Bowl. This makes for an interesting conundrum for fantasy players because the Pro Bowl is the most volatile game of all sports. You never know which kind of game is going to be played, so it is safer to save your bankroll for next year.

Juventus’ Quest for Teble

Top European soccer has become more and more ingrained in the national spotlight of sports in America and rightfully so. Last year, we saw Leicester City defy all odds and end up on top of England’s top soccer league a year after they were promoted into the league. Last month, we witnessed Barcelona’s improbable comeback in the UEFA Champions League (highest league in all soccer) to beat Paris St. Germain after needing to score an outrageous six goals to advance, which resulted in one of the best daily fantasy soccer slates ever!

On June 3rd, we may be able to witness another piece of history. In the history of soccer, only seven clubs have won the infamous Treble and Juventus is aiming to become number eight if they are able to defeat the star-studded Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League. For all of you novice soccer fans, let me break down what it takes to win the Treble. The Treble is won when one club is able to raise three Championship Trophies in one season. First, the club must finish first in their Domestic League. Second, they have to also win the Domestic Cup (which is a year-long tournament between all of the teams in the Domestic League). Lastly, and hardest of all, they must be the Champions of Champions and win the Champions League.

The Champions League is theoretically an all-star league for the best soccer clubs across Europe. There are a variety of different ways to earn a spot in this ultra-competitive 32 club league. Just in these last two weeks, Juventus has claimed the first two cups of the Treble by winning their domestic league (Italian Serie A) and their domestic cup (Italian Coppa Italia). But the task ahead is no easy feat. Real Madrid is the all time leader in Champions League titles with a whopping eleven, with their most recent coming last season where they defeated their home-town rival Atletico Madrid in a thriller that eventually resulted in Real winning 5-3 on penalties.

The fantasy soccer matchup for this year’s championship is as good as it gets. Both Juve and Real have been dominant all season; with Real also winning the La Liga title (Spanish domestic league) this season. Soccer fanatic or not, this is definitely a game you are going to want to tune in for because it is sure to be a classic.

Hawaii Homes for Sale: Making an Impression

The Hawaii real estate market is thriving, drawing tens of thousands of investors from across the globe each year. Amid the many Hawaii homes for sale, it is important to be able to leave an impression on every potential home buyer.

How can your property be unforgettable to your prospective buyers?Below is a list of some features or styles to consider adopting in your home in the Aloha State.

A high-ceilinged foyer and curved stairway. A foyer is a grand way to welcome every visitor, and you want it to look expansive and elegant. Go for a high ceiling as well as a curved stairway that will lend drama for when the homeowner goes downstairs to greet their friends and family who are dropping by.

Neutral motif. The design of house should allow for the new owner to bring his own personality. The paint palette should be in the neutral shades – white, cream, brown, or gray, etc. – for a more classic look. The goal is for the property to be readily reimagined by every potential buyer who comes in for a visit as his own. But also feel free to break up the monotony with some attention-grabbing pieces, like a vibrant red sculpture.

A unique feature in every room. Even as the entire home should be open to a major redesign, it would speak volumes of the seller’s good taste to feature something unique, or add a statement piece or two, to bring character to an otherwise blank canvas. What are some examples of these? A table made by a local artisan in the patio. An antique armoire in the living room. A bedroom door in an unexpected color. A paneled ceiling. These would mean additional expenses, but nothing that cannot be recouped by hiking the home’s sale price.

Top-of-the-line appliances. If the homeowners intend to cook, the kitchen must be appointed with a well-known brand of cooking range and oven, refrigerator and freezer, and dishwasher, among others. For when guests come over, there should be a luxurious game and media room, where they can relax on a plush chairs, while watching a movie or playing a video game – or perhaps billiards or foosball. The key is to invest only in the best brands.

Major vs. Non-major

The Masters, the British Open, the U.S. Open, and ultimately the PGA championship; these are the four majors in PGA season and make some of the most legendary sporting events of all-time. PGA, like tennis, is an interesting sport where there are different kind of tournaments/major events. These four tournaments represent an uncanny kind of focus and intensity then the rest of the tournaments played throughout the fantasy PGA season. Is there any difference between the two when doing Fanduel PGA strategy or Fanduel PGA research? Well yes and no.

Like all sports, a big state represents a bigger opportunity for players. The best golfers in the world will always show up for the major events of the PGA season and make sure to give it a little something extra to show out on the national and international stage. Take for example golf’s current number one player in the world Jason Day. For the 2016 golf season, Day competed in all four majors and 20 other non-major events. In the four major events, he made the cut in all four and finished in the top ten three out of four. Compare that to his 20 appearances in non-major events and he missed the cut three times and only finished in the top 10 ten different times. To recap for fantasy PGA analysis, Day made the cut 100% of the time and finished top 10 75% of the time for the majors. Compare that to an 85% cut rate and a 50% top 10 rate and you can see the difference between how the best play at majors versus non-major events.

Now is that going to translate over every time for when you are doing your daily fantasy PGA analysis? That’s difficult to answer because it is difficult to pinpoint anything for certain. But, if history is any guide, the big players will show up on the biggest of stages. At the end of the day, when the adrenaline is rushing through your veins and your heart beating out of your chest, it is going to be the guys with that edge with that special something who rises up the occasion and puts on a show that will be remembered for generations and generations.
